What is a dead man's hand in cards?

A Book About a Thousand Thing vs Google
Thousand Things: In Poker a hand consisting of a pair of aces (some say jacks) and a pair of eights is known as a dead man's hand from the report that James Butler Hickok ("Wild Bill") held such a hand at the time he was shot by Jack McCall during a card game in Deadwood, South Dakota, August 2, 1876. Hickok was a pioneer law-enforcement officer and was noted for the many men he killed in self-defense and in the discharge of his duty. Some poker players maintain that a dead man's hand is very lucky and seldom beaten. In certain wild games it wins over everything, even a royal flush.

Google: The Dead Man's Hand is a famous two-pair poker hand, made up of "aces and eights". Legend has it that the card combination got its name from the fact  that it was the five-card-draw hand held by James Butler Hickok (that’s Wild Bill Hickok), when he was shot and killed on August 2, 1876, at a Saloon in Deadwood, South Dakota.

also I made this tonight. it was really good.

  1. Fascinating. I really like the Google butterflies, and that book. You know how I feel about books.
